fought again because of my relationship one moment she was throwing words of anger and disapproval at me and then the next I saw her slumped over the sofa and I saw my dad and brother rushed toward her we is Mom okay go check on her my brain screamed at me my body was frozen in place then the words came like arrows if you love Mom then choose to let go of the relationship if I love Mom voices exploded in my head Claudia mom had given up so much for you bring you to Canada to raise you to give you the best life possible just do
what she wants but what about me you mean I have to choose between Hmong and the person who loves me you mean for her I have to give up my own happiness or else that night no words came to my mind but even with my mom's disapproval I chose me I learned to stand on my own and found people to stand alongside me so I could go after what I want and even though I was terrified of making a mistake I chose me I learned to trust myself that no matter what happens I am responsible for my life and as the years went by after
my marriage I chose to embrace other areas of my life and that was when my coaching came in and my book and speaking people say Claudia you're so brave to come on to speaker slam and this is what I realized sometimes we may feel as if we're not allowed to go after what we want because there's this invisible expectation one that makes us feel so guilty if we don't fulfill it and other times we may feel like we're forced to give up our dreams and put our families first have you ever been in a situation where you feel like you have to let go of
your desires or you actually embrace your desires but you chose to hide the truth from the people you love because you're so scared of what they will say or worse that they would turn away I am so thankful for this experience because it allowed me to build my strength and courage to go after what I want so I can stand and shine so today I invite you to choose yourself to stand in your own truth today I invite you to choose yourself to take up as much space as you want today I invite you to choose yourself because I believe in you and that you're
