Every Speaker Slam® competition brings a new lineup of voices to the stage. On May 28, 2019 at Lula Lounge, Toronto, 10 speakers competed on the theme of Power of Belief.

Malcolm Hooper
1st Place at Power of Belief 2019
Malcolm is a third year business student at Durham College, and captain of the provincial champions Durham College men's rugby team. He is a hard working student athlete looking for a career in marketing or sales. Malcolm has a message that he wants to share after winning his college's speed speech competition as he begins his journey as an entrepreneur.
Rachel Weinstock
2nd Place at Power of Belief 2019
Rachel Weinstock is an elementary school teacher, public speaker and artist. She has been working in the education field for over fifteen year and is known as "Miss Rainbow Fairy" because of her alternative approach to education. She speaks to parents, educators and caring adults on how to create emotionally safe spaces for children in the classroom and beyond. Her ultimate goal is to empower the next generation to be global change makers!
Jennifer Maxwell
3rd Place at Power of Belief 2019
Jennifer is a Team Builder, Talent Excavator, and a Joy Finder. As a former E.C.E., Professional Actor, and Professional Wedding Planner, Jennifer has honed the art of connecting with others in a profound way. Learning to navigate different personalities under pressure lead Jennifer to become a Certified Human Behavioural Consultant. Using her super powers for good, Jennifer now coaches teams on interpersonal communication and increased emotional intelligence for a more connected and joyful life.
Heather Kerr
Life Coach, Artist, Speaker, Retreat Owner
Heather was a tax lawyer on vacation in Paris 5 years ago when she dreamed herself painting a canvas. Paris kickstarted Heather's journey of following her heart instead of seeking approval. After she became a artist, Heather certified as a life coach and began helping other women create amazing lives. In July, Heather will be opening the George Russell Academy of Creative Expansion in Prince Edward County where she will host retreats and art shows.
Kapil Ghai
Storyteller, Songwriter, Sales Professional
Kapil is an avid storyteller, songwriter, and accomplished sales professional who has been active in telling his stories across the GTA for the past few years. He hopes to use his stage presence, and intriguing adventures to inspire his audience. Kapil is currently developing workshops with a few post secondary institutions, the workshops will focus on helping students overcome their fear of social anxiety.
Karen Porter
Entrepreneur, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Return to Food Coach
Karen spent 30 years stressed, depressed, and feeling shitty...literally. She finally gained control over her physical and mental health, and learned how to feel happy, focused, and full of energy. She learned what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. As a wellness expert and Food Coach, Karen is passionate about helping women to fuel their body and their brain, so they can feel their absolute best! She holds retreats, workshops and works 1 on 1.
Nader Eid
Fitness Expert, Combat Instructor, Human
Facilitated live presentations for the biggest survival training Expos in Canada and trained hundreds of people to make real transformations through fitness and cultivated the community throughout including teaching students combat & fitness at the middle and high school level and continuing to find new avenues to teach and bring real-world fitness to an international level.
Tara Geraghty-Ellis

Tenacious Tara is a Disability Empowerment strategist. Taking her lifetime of personal and professional experience she helps others to dream big and find creative ways to live their best lives.
Barbara Santen
Dating Coach, Entrepreneur, Midwife
Barbara Santen is a Dating coach who has a radically different and successful approach to dating and relationship happiness. The foundation of her work is reconnecting women back to their Divine Essence. Her Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP), Relationship Coaching Training and degree Women's Health (she is a registered midwife) and her own deep personal and professional study into human beliefs and relationships, has shaped who she is today.
Daniel Goodman
Storyteller, Writer, Designer, Recording Artist, Entrepreneur
Daniel Goodman is an independent creator from the Niagara region. He's been a design/management intern for Arts & Crafts Records; editor-in-chief and co-art director for NEEDS&WANTS Paper; and contributed to articles for A. Side, The Varsity, and more. Of the many things he's passionate about, he's most dedicated to telling stories that will allow us to feel empowered, seen, and understood, so we can tap into the flow of our most creative and enriched selves.
