Local Mother with Stage 4 Cancer Wins Speaker Slam®: North America's Largest Inspirational Speaking Competition
TORONTO, ON – Lindsy Matthews, a mother courageously battling Stage 4 cancer, took first place at Speaker Slam®'s Against All Odds competition held on April 25, 2023 at Lula Lounge in Toronto.
Matthews captivated the audience and judges with her powerful story of resilience, hope, and determination in the face of a devastating diagnosis. Her speech embodied the very essence of the evening's theme, "Against All Odds," inspiring hundreds of attendees with her unwavering spirit and authentic vulnerability.
Speaker Slam® is North America's largest inspirational speaking competition, bringing together the most talented speakers, reputable professional judges, and hundreds of passionate attendees who thrive on personal development, community, and connection.
The competition featured 10 inspiring speakers who shared their stories of perseverance and determination. Matthews' speech stood out for its raw honesty, emotional depth, and transformative message that resonated deeply with everyone in the room.
As the first-place winner, Matthews receives a prize package valued at over $10,000, including a $2,000 cash prize, an invitation to compete at the Grand Slam Finals, and professional development prizes donated by the evening's distinguished panel of judges.
Matthews now advances to the Grand Slam: The Inspirational Speaking Finals, where she will compete against the top speakers of the year for the title of Inspirational Speaker of the Year.
