I am a Filipino-American actor, singer and coach. Through my creative and professional endeavors I have found much healing. There is no better way to continue personal healing and growth, than daring to live creatively and being of service to others, each and every day.

My name is Candace Burkart and I’m a trauma aware transformational coach and I specialize in chronic pain. I work with the subconscious mind to clear blocks, unhealthy habits, and limiting beliefs and release repressed or stuck emotions and painful old stories that can hold people back and make them sick.

Nature blessed me with a Jamaican birth. My mother blessed me with an educated mind. Adolescents overtook me in Toronto. I learned that sometimes the door that opportunity knocks on has to be built by yourself. My educational, spiritual and community-building activities shaped my sense of purpose as an artist. I inspire men and women to confidently own their stories so they can live their best life now. Gratitude is a must.

I am passionate about public speaking. This contest on Healing really made me take a step back. Dealing with flawed skin, from third-degree burns as a child, led me down a path of carrying not only the physical scars but the emotional as well, for most of my life, at some point, however, I had to make a choice, me or the scars. I am hoping my speech inspires others to always Choose themselves.
